The PrePlan investment portfolio is managed by the board of Trustees, with the expert guidance of First Albany Asset Management Corporation. The trust fund is invested in FDIC insured jumbo certificates of deposit, which are held at Chase Manhattan Bank, N.A. PrePlan consumers earn the highest rate of interest in the fund's time deposit, pooled investment. The annualized net consumer yield through August 2002 was 5.14%.No Hidden Fees
The Board of Trustees is permitted by law to expend up to seventy-five hundredths of one percent (.0075) of the principal sum in the fund for management and administrative services. A reasonable fee is also paid for professional investment advice. These terms are fully disclosed in the preneed agreements and PrePlan brochures. In addition, the fees are disclosed in detail to consumers annually in annual tax/summary statement.Convenient and Easy to Use
Simply mail PrePlan the completed paperwork with the payment. PrePlan will immediately send a confirmation directly to your client once the account has been established. As a funeral firm participant, you will receive monthly reports on the status of your clients' accounts and have immediate access to up-to-date account information. Your funeral home may select one of two convenient options for payment of PrePlan death claims:* Mailed Payment - mailed within 24 hours of processing* Electronic Payment - next business day availability in a predesignated bank account of your choice.Either method will assure your funeral home quick turnaround on PrePlan death payments. An added feature of electronic payment is the ability to receive instant emails with the name, account number, and dollar amount of the account transmitted to your bank. In addition, as long as your consumers maintain revocable account status, they may request a full or partial refund with no interest penalty. The Direct Deposit Program is only available for the payment of death claims, however, refunds are mailed within a 24-hour period from the processing date.
